Pinot Noir Rosé NV Maybern Single Vineyard Judges Selection - Global Fine Wine Challenge Sydney Sept 2025 90/100 - The Real Review, Stephen Wong MW The Johanneshof Pinot Noir Rosé NV displays a light rose colour. Heavenly scented aromas of violets, red melon, rhubarb and a touch of almond. Although dry in style, its luscious palate makes it an instantly appealing wine with a very soft acidity. Flavours reminiscent of summer carry the theme of a berry compote - raspberries, strawberries and cherries all intermingle. A core of nutty and earthy tones shows the terroir of the Maybern vineyard with its clay and sandstone subsoils. The Johanneshof Rosé is an elegant, yet gutsy wine finishing long and incredibly smooth. Enjoy with your favourite fish dish, fresh salmon or on its own in the sun with good company. Judges Selection - Global Fine Wine Challenge, Sydney Sept 2025 90/100 - The Real Review, Stephen Wong MW, 22 Jan 2025 This single vineyard Pinot Noir Rosé is made from our steep home block 'Maybern" Vineyard behind our winery. Dry-farmed and narrow planted, growing here is a labour of love, with most work carried out by hand. The notably soft acidity is achieved by carefully monitoring the ripening in the vineyard and choosing the picking time when all components are in balance. Hand harvested like all Johanneshof wines, its a non vintage wine made as an assemblage of our limited 2023 and 2024 vintages. "Light peach. Sweet apricot, raspberry and creamy peach flavours coat the palate on this richly textured but soft, off-dry rosé. The plush palate is neither weighty nor powerful but has plenty of ripe fruit flavour which finishes with sweet honeydew flavours. A very charming and easy-going wine for immediate enjoyment." Johanneshof Cellars Marlborough Gewürztraminer 2025 “... a benchmark for the variety. This must surely be one of the country's most decorated gewürztraminers” Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review Released in September 2025 the Johanneshof Gewürztraminer 2025 shines in the glass in its straw colour. The floral bouquet of honeysuckle, rose petals and violets is underpinned with aromas of white stone fruit and pears. Extremely powerful on the nose and palate, it features a weighty mouth feel and stunning tropical fruit characters. Nuances of peaches and mangos grace the palate with gorgeously floral tones of roses and Turkish delight. Beautifully textured and well balanced with some natural sweetness. This unctuous wine seduces with its elegance and power. It’s well deserving of its name – this German variety ‘Gewürztraminer’ translates to ‘Spicy Traminer” - its spiciness most notable in its smooth, lingering finish. Its the perfect accompaniment to Asian cuisine, hearty dishes or your favourite cheese board. 5 ✪✪✪✪✪ -"Super Classic New Zealand Wine" Michael Cooper's Buyer's Guide to New Zealand Wine (since 2010) MM 2 Merits Wine Classification NZ - The Real Review, since 2022 Vintage 2024: GOLD - 95/100 Global Fine Wine Challenge, Sydney Sept 2025 GOLD - National Wine Awards of Aotearoa NZ, Sept 2025 GOLD 96/100 - New Zealand International Wine Show Sept 2025 94/100 - Stephen Wong MW, The Real Review March 2025 One of the most prestigious awards received for a previous Vintage (2004) of the Johanneshof Gewürztraminer is the ‘International Trophy for 'Champion Aromatic White Wine of the World’ and 'Regional Trophy for 'Champion Aromatic White Wine of New Zealand’ at one of the world’s largest wine competitions ‘Decanter World Wine Awards’ in London (2005). "The amber-hued 2018 Noble Late Harvest Riesling offers up aromas of truffled honey, orange marmalade and apricot preserves. Rich and powerful, this full-bodied sweet wine seamlessly marries together its alcohol (11.5%) and residual sugar (178 grams per liter) without any sense of warmth or cloying, as the stickiness is all cleaned up on the finish by vibrant, ripe-citrus acidity. It's one of the very few New World wines I've tasted that can compare to a German Beerenauslese or Trockenbeerenauslese. I suspect it will keep for decades, but there's no real reason to wait.” Robert Parker The Wine Advocate' April 2021, Joe Czerwinski - 96/100 points Top Wine of 140 New Zealand wines tasted | ||||||||||||||||
