Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Attractive zingy fragrance attracts with typical racy green capsicum on the nose and greets you with aromas of lemon and lime and floral notes of white flowers.

Refreshing flavours of lime zest,  grapefruit and the whole spectrum of citrus fruits. The wine opens up
to show kaffir lime, gooseberry and subtle passionfruit, a wonderfully mourish palate that is bright and refreshing.
It is punchy and fabulously crisp with a lengthy bright finish.

Varietally expressive and immediately appealing.

Chardonnay 2018

Light straw in colour the Johanneshof Chardonnay intrigues with its bouquet of vanilla with some leesy accents and a touch of oak.
This medium bodied wine is not a bold buttery style, it is rather a fruity, elegant wine that shines with its delicate nutty flavours & a hint of smokeyness. Hand harvested like all Johanneshof wines it is silky textured and driven by its beautiful fruit flavours, followed by a very subtle, soft oak influence that leaves a lasting impression. Enjoy with fish and seafood or pasta dishes.
It will bottle age beautifully until 2026

This is a comeback of one of our first varieties, which we stopped producing in favour of our sparkling Chardonnay - the Johanneshof Cellars Blanc de Blancs. After nearly 20 years our still Chardonnay is now back and showing great following since its release in October 2019.

Johanneshof Cellars 2018
Pinot Noir Ros
é
Maybern Single Vineyard

This Rosé is dry in style with a beautiful transluscent crimson colour and a bouquet of fruit flavours dominated by white peach and honeysuckle, lifted by some citrus.
The palate immediately demands attention with its strong flavours of red apple, melon and flowers with its silky smooth texture and fine tannins. The notably soft acidity is achieved by carefully monitoring  the ripening in the vineyard and choosing the picking time when all components are in balance. Hand harvested like all Johanneshof wines, it is an elegant wine with a lengthy finish.

Johanneshof Cellars Marlborough   Noble Late Harvest Riesling 2018
Picture

This richly botrytised style is Warwick and Edel's homage
to her home of Rheingau in Germany and its great noble wines called 'Trockenbeerenauslese'

Johanneshof Noble Late Harvest Riesling 2018 seduces with its naturally highly concentrated bouquet packed with honey and sundried apricot flavours. This is reflected on the palate with decadent flavours of ripe citrus fruit, honeycomb and apricot, entwined with subtle botrytis which gently unfolds with layers of aromatics.
With an oily and rich mouthfeel this luscious dessert wine is sweet but balanced with a good acid spine and excellent harmony and richness. Serve with crème brûlée, apple pie or apricot crumble.    375 ml

Gewürztraminer 2020

“This beauty is consistently one of New Zealand's finest Gewürztraminers”
Michael Cooper, The Listener

Ethereal aromas of exotic spice and sandalwood set the tone for this luscious aromatic wine. The flavours of rosewater, ginger and marzipan are opulent and rich. Complex with an oily richness and gentle sweetness. This unctuous, full bodied Gewürztraminer finishes with a powerful, lengthy and elegant finish.  This beauty is one of our most loved wines and one of New Zealand’s most awarded Gewürztraminer.

Johanneshof Cellars  Pinot Noir 2016 Maybern Single Vineyard Reserve

The Johanneshof Pinot Noir Maybern Reserve is made without any addition of yeast and fining agents. This is a wild ferment, where the wine is allowed to ferment with indigenous yeasts, unique to our Koromiko vineyard and winery. Made with minimal intervention, our Pinot Noir was aged in French barrels for 11 months and bottled with a light filtration in April 2018.

Our Maybern vineyard is a tribute to Warwick's parents May and Bernard - The Maybern vineyard is located here behind our cellar door in Koromiko - it is a 30 degree North West facing steep slope - making mechanical intervention tricky - all work on this vineyard is done by hand!

"This Pinot is round and ripe for it's age, the flavours of cherries linger with a warm chocolate and raspberry nuanced finish. The soft tannins fill out the palate and give it a nice ageing potential.
At it's best: now to 2020"

Sam Kim - Wine Orbit, May 18

"Complex and detailed bouquet with an immediate Pinosity. Fragrances and flavours of red berry fruits, plum and red apple. Fine tannins, medium+ acidity, complexity, still developing with a layer of charm and finesse, minerality and florality. Lengthy and fine - drink now and through 2024"
Cameron Douglas MS, Nov 18
