2012 Gewürztraminer

2012 Johanneshof Cellars Marlborough Gewürztraminer

Aromas of Rose petals, Cloves and Turkish Delight are plentiful and intense and mirrored on the palate resulting in a full flavoured, powerful, aromatic wine.

“This is as good as you’d expect from this outstanding producer. The perfumed bouquet shows tropical fruit, peach, floral and Turkish Delight with a hint of spice aromas. It’s concentrated and richly textured on the palate with subtle sweetness which is beautifully framed by refreshing acidity, leading to a superbly long, silky finish. How could you not love this beauty?” Wine Orbit Aug 2013

“This is a typically intense gewürztraminer with impressive richness and weight. Made in a medium style with ripe stone fruit, floral and spice characters. Pure and appealing.” Gourmet Traveller Wine, Australia March 2013

“Exotically perfumed bouquet, leading to a very softly textured, oily palate with abundant sweetness and rich, gingery, lingering flavours.” Winestate March/April 2013

“One of Marlborough’s most consistent producer of top Gewurztraminer. This is a typically intense wine with impressive richness and weight. Made in a medium style with ripe stone fruit, floral and spice characters. Luscious and appealing wine.” Bob Campbell May 2013

“Brilliant straw-yellow colour with slight green-golden hues. This has an opulent bouquet of exotic fruits, lychees, rose-petals, homey and musk. Turkish Delight and ginger unfold, filling the nose with voluminous layers. Medium in sweetness, fulsome and rich flavours of tropical fruits, Turkish Delight and ginger combine with florals and honey, forming a near-unctuous mouthfeel. The acidity is soft, adding to the roundness and opulence. Some alcoholic generosity and power provides good drive and carries the lush, spicy and sweet flavours to a long and sustained finish with honey and rose-petal notes. This is an opulent and rich, medium Gewurztraminer with plenty of power.” Raymond Chan, May 2013

The 2012 vintage is a distinctly medium style, with an exotically perfumed bouquet leading into a weighty palate with concentrated, ripe flavours of peaches, lychees, ginger and spices, deliciously soft, rich and long.” Michael Cooper June 2013

“Outstanding off dry style with a carnation-like peppery bouquet, clove, cinnamon, rose petals, violets, wonderful mouthfeel and length.” NZ International Wine Show 2013
