Johanneshof  Cellars – Wines

Johanneshof Cellars has gained a huge respect for its wines over the last 21 vintages with a strong reputation for its sparkling wines and the aromatic varieties.

This was underlined by consistent 5 star ratings in New Zealand and Australian Wine Magazines for Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer and numerous Medals and Trophies scoring “Champion” wine in their category year after year. Johanneshof has been awarded multible Trophies in New Zealand and International Wine Competitions held in the UK, Australia and Hongkong,  notably the International Wine and Spirit Competition and Decanter World Wine Awards in UK and the Cathay Pacific Hongkong Wine & Spirit Competition.

Along with the wines above, Johanneshof Cellars also produces Pinot Noir and a Late Harvest Noble Riesling,  as well as Sparkling Methode Traditionelle, Grape Brandy (Edelbrand) and Grappa.

Methode Traditionnelle Emmi

A classic champenoise in brut style. Left several years on the lees, carefully hand-turned in its bottles on the traditional racks we store deep in our cellars. Our “Emmi” has a fragrant strawberry bouquet with bready characters and displays the strength of the pinot noir fruit, combined with the crispness and elegance of chardonnay. A wine for special occasions, perfect for toasting the milestones of life. (This wine is currently unavailable)

Methode Traditionnelle Blanc de Noirs Brut  NV         Recently Disgorged

This bottle fermented Methode Traditionnelle is made wholly from hand picked Marlborough Pinot Noir grapes, and fermented and aged in French oak in our underground cellars.

The resultant wine was fermented in the bottle, then left on lees in the bottle for a minimum of 3 years, until Disgorging at our cellars in Koromiko.

Brut in style with a crisp dry finish from a megar dosage of only four grams per litre.

Straw coloured and with fine beads it has a fragrant nose of strawberry, violet and honeysuckle. A complex palate with licorice and smokey tones finishing on a biscuity nutty note.

Methode Traditionnelle Blanc de Blancs

Solely made from 100 % hand-harvested Chardonnay grown in Marlborough, Johanneshof Cellars’ Blanc de Blancs has been fermenting and maturing on its lees deep in our underground cellar for some years. Each bottle was individually hand-turned on traditional oak racks for six weeks before being desgorged at our cellars just prior to its release. (This wine is currently unavailable)

Johanneshof Cellars Edelbrand – Grape Brandy

Solely made from 100 % hand-harvested grapes grown in Marlborough, Johanneshof Cellars’ Edelbrand has been maturing deep in our underground cellar for some 15 years. Aged in Limousine barrels this premium brandy is blended like the best cognacs using the solera methode guaranteeing you the finest quality of brandies.
