Johanneshof Cellars – Wines
Johanneshof Cellars has gained a fantastic respect for its wines over the last 15 vintages with a strong reputation for its sparkling wines and the aromatic varieties. This was underlined by consistent 5 star ratings in Cuisine Magazine for Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris Dry, Pinot Gris Medium, and Gewürztraminer.
Along with the wines above, Johanneshof Cellars also produces Pinot Noir and a Late Harvest Noble Riesling, as well as Sparkling Methode Traditionelle, Grape Brandy and Grappa.
In the last few years Johanneshof has been awarded eight Trophies in New Zealand wine competitions, with Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris and Noble Late Harvest Riesling all scoring “Champion” wine in their category.
In consecutive years Johanneshof Gewurztraminer has also toppped the Gewurztraminer tasting in Cuisine Magazine and won the “Overall Top Wine of NZ Aromatic White Wines”
And their Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc have received Gold Medals and the Gewurztraminer a Trophy in International Competitions held in the UK. Notably The International Wine and Spirit Competion and Decanter World Wine Award.
Methode Traditionnelle Emmi
A classic champenoise in brut style. Left several years on the lees, carefully hand-turned in its bottles on the traditional racks we store deep in our cellars. Our “Emmi” has a fragrant strawberry bouquet with bready characters and displays the strength of the pinot noir fruit, combined with the crispness and elegance of chardonnay. A wine for special occasions, perfect for toasting the milestones of life.
Methode Traditionnelle Blanc de Blancs
Solely made from 100 % hand-harvested Chardonnay grown in Marlborough, Johanneshof Cellars’ Blanc de Blancs has been fermenting and maturing on its lees deep in our underground cellar for some years. Each bottle was individually hand-turned on traditional oak racks for six weeks before being desgorged at our cellars just prior to its release.
Johanneshof Cellars Edelbrand – Grape Brandy
Solely made from 100 % hand-harvested grapes grown in Marlborough, Johanneshof Cellars’ Edelbrand has been maturing deep in our underground cellar for some 15 years. Aged in Limousine barrels this premium brandy is blended like the best cognacs using the solera methode guaranteeing you the finest quality of brandies.
Johanneshof Cellars Gewürztraminer Grappa
Made from fermented Gewürztraminer grape skins Johanneshof Cellars’ Grappa follows the great European traditions of Germany, Italy and France. Johanneshof Cellars Grappa has been maturing deep in our underground cellar in Limousine barrels to be bottled in small 375 ml bottles to be enjoyed as a degustative after a nice meal.
